it's empty
i noticed that today
empty like...
like . my . heart
this place is empty,
h ll w and forlourne
that reminded me:
..something . like . my . heart
something . like . my . life
my soul
they're all empty
I noticed that today
i looked to fill it
but with what?
there's nothing full
Everything's empty
this . and . that
and everything
I noticed that today
...
We all wear masks, I'm sure you've heard, to cover up the pain, the truth, the lies, the fear we feel.
There's something in all of us that we want to cry out for help with. Something like the pain, like the guilt, all that shit within us, the fear that haunts us.
but we wear masks...
what's so special about a mask?
what's so important about a mask?
our masks hate people, that's why when we take them off we get hurt, because we do that alone, and no one else does it at the same time.
That girl sitting at her table at lunch, never says a word to anyone {fear}, never tells a lie, never tells a truth. People can see the bruises on her face. People can see the scars on her arm.
Outcast her! Ostracize her! She's broken. She's not contributed anything to your life. What could she, though?
You don't care, your mask hates her. If you took it off to help her, other masks would attack you, and your mask needs a place to dwell, so it persuades you to not mingle with the cutter in the corner...
She wants her pain to end. She doesn't want to fear going home every night. She doesn't fear you or your words, she's used to them. They don't hurt as bad as a fist.
You want your loneliness to end, too. You've got friends, right? or are they just other masks that have befriended your own? You cry alone each night, either with tears on your pillow, or in the silent anguish you feel. You can try to drown it out with music, with food, with whatever you choose to put into your body, with whatever you choose to do to yourself. You can try to push off until the next day when your mask is happy again with its friends, but where are yours?
You cry out when there's no one around.
You shouldn't have to wait around and ask your 'friends' if they're inviting you. They should do that without cause. You shouldn't have to wonder if your phone is actually going to ring. It should do that even when you're not crying out, but where are they? your friends?
If you take off that plastic on your face, that fake smile, those lying eyes, and if I do the same, we won't have a mask on either of us to hate the other. I know that you hurt somehow, and you know that I hurt just as much some way, too.
I noticed that, today, we can pretend we're happy for as long as we want, we can lie to ourselves as much as we please, but none of that really changes how it is, changes none of the sorrow, none of the pain.
